Historic England lists 17 Chantry Street as a sixteenth and eighteenth century timber-framed house of two storeys, rendered, under a tile roof, first listed on 24 February 1950, list entry number 1093487. The eighteenth century shopfront on the north side, with its slightly curved fascia and a central doorway between two 28-light windows, is part of what is protected, and the rear elevation still shows exposed framing with painted brick infill. Services run from a men's haircut to beard trims, head shaves and hot towel shaves. A caution on opening hours: the booking platforms and the business directories do not agree with each other, so check the times on whichever booking page you use rather than trusting a search result.
