Remembrance Sunday is 8 November 2026. Andover’s parade has followed the same route for years: from Bridge Street, along Winchester Street and Eastern Avenue to St Mary’s Church, with a service in the church and an act of remembrance in the Garden of Remembrance. Test Valley Borough Council has not yet published the 2026 timings. Last year’s are below, and this page will be updated when the council announces this year’s.

The quick answer

  • Sunday 8 November 2026. Armistice Day, 11 November, is the following Wednesday.
  • Last year the church service began at 10am and the ceremony in the Garden of Remembrance at 10.45am.
  • Roads closed from about 9.45am to 10.45am, and again 11.30am to 12pm for the return parade. George Yard and Black Swan Yard car parks were cut off.

What happened in 2025

The council’s announcement, Andover to mark Remembrance Sunday with parade, set out the morning of Sunday 9 November 2025:

  • Veterans, serving personnel, a marching band and uniformed groups paraded from Bridge Street, through Winchester Street and Eastern Avenue, to St Mary’s Church.
  • The service in the church, led by Rev’d Canon Peter Harwood, began at 10am.
  • The ceremony in the Garden of Remembrance followed at 10.45am. Wreaths were laid by the Deputy Lieutenant of Hampshire, the Mayor of Test Valley, the President of the Andover branch of the Royal British Legion, representatives of the Freemen of the Borough and the North West Hampshire MP, and local schoolchildren laid posies of poppies.
  • Dignitaries then went to Eastern Avenue to take the salute at the return parade.

The same route was used in 2022, when the council’s announcement said around 100 people would take part.

While the roads were shut, George Yard and Black Swan Yard car parks could not be reached and Town Mills had very limited space. The council pointed drivers to the Chantry Centre multistorey, Shepherds Spring Lane and Anton Mill. More on the town’s car parks is on our parking in Andover page.

Armistice Day

In 2025 a short Armistice Day service was held at the Cenotaph in St Mary’s Church Garden at 10.50am on 11 November. In 2026, 11 November is a Wednesday.

Romsey

The council’s 2025 announcement said Romsey would also hold a parade and a service at the Abbey, organised through Romsey Town Council. We will add the 2026 details when they are published.
