We checked 15 shops in Andover, Romsey and Stockbridge, from Mooch on Bridge Street to Bradbeers, for opening hours and what they sell. Updated November 2026.

Andover, Romsey and the Test Valley villages have 15 mostly independent shops worth a Christmas shopping trip in 2026, and this guide puts them in one place with opening hours, addresses and what each one sells. Mooch and At Last in Andover, Bradbeers and Fig & Fox in Romsey, and Stockbridge’s High Street are the names most people land on. We checked every entry against the shop’s own website on 5 November 2026.

We have not shopped at any of these for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry says what the shop says it sells, in its own words where we can quote them. Most of the hours below are regular hours, not Christmas ones: only Bradbeers and Mooch had published festive times when we checked. Small shops often change their hours close to Christmas, so check before a special trip.

Dates for the Christmas shopping diary

Friday 20 November: Andover lights switch-on. The free Christmas Festival runs on the High Street, with the lights going on at 6.30pm, according to Test Valley Borough Council. Our What’s On in Andover page has the stage times.

Saturday 21 November: Romsey switch-on and Andover Winter Fair. Romsey’s lights switch-on market runs from 3pm to 7pm, and the Andover Winter Fair, a free makers’ fair, is at Andover Museum from 10am to 4pm. Details are on our Romsey Christmas market and Andover Christmas market pages.

Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 November: Hawk Conservancy Christmas Market. More than 80 local businesses, according to the Trust, from 3.30pm to 7.30pm Thursday to Saturday and 11am to 3pm on Sunday.

Saturdays 28 November and 5, 12 and 19 December: Chantry Centre festive markets. Free indoor markets from 9.30am to 4pm, near Holland & Barrett and Waterstones. A Christmas Makers Pop-Up Shop is in Unit 53, the old O2 shop, from 5 to 13 December.

Sunday 13 December: two makers’ markets. Andover’s Second Sundays festive market is on the High Street from 10am to 3pm, and the Romsey Makers Christmas Market is in Romsey town centre the same day, also 10am to 3pm.

Late night shopping. We found no town-wide late night date for Andover or Romsey when we checked. Two shops below stay open late on Fridays: I Remember These until 8pm and The Little Whisky Shop until 7pm.

Parking. Andover’s council car parks are free after 4pm every day and all day on Sundays; our parking guide has the tariffs. In Romsey, council car parks charge from 8.30am to 4pm and are free on Sundays and bank holidays, according to Visit Romsey.

Shops we could not confirm

We left these out because we could not read the shop’s own website. That does not mean any of them has closed, and we would welcome a line from each.

  • Paperchain, a card and gift shop listed at 15 The Hundred, Romsey, in public map data.
  • F W Kersey & Son, a jeweller listed at 5 Latimer Street, Romsey.
  • Garden Inn, a garden gift shop on Stockbridge High Street, which a garden centre directory lists with a phone number but no hours.
  • Test Valley Models, a model and wargaming shop in central Andover, which a hobby directory lists as open Tuesday to Saturday.

How we chose

We started from public map data for the shops in Andover, Romsey, Stockbridge and Whitchurch, Visit Romsey and Test Valley Borough Council’s shop opening announcements, then kept the independents that sell things people give as presents and whose own website we could read on 5 November 2026. We looked for closure notices: that check removed Forest & Cove on Bell Street in Romsey, whose website says it has closed permanently. Bradbeers and David Mellor are small family groups with branches elsewhere, and we say so in their entries.
